Each November, CANFAR (Canadian Foundation for Aids Research) hosts an unforgettable evening known as Bloor Street Entertains. A collaboration between Bloor-Yorkville retailers, top chefs, and design specialists, BSE brings the community together for an incredible evening of dining, dancing, and fundraising.
Over the past three decades, CANFAR has invested more than $22 million in close to 500 grants to HIV/AIDS research projects. These research projects have led to incredible breakthroughs in HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and the search for a cure. Their newest goal is to eliminate the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Canada by the year 2025. Taking place November 25th, 2020, the Bloor-Yorkville BIA is proud to return as an official Community Partner of Bloor Street Entertains.
Raise Awareness for HIV Research
Of course, this year the event has been reimagined, so the critical fundraising can continue in a safe and responsible way. Those who wish to be involved can purchase tickets for an at-home fine dining experience and can also bid on incredible items at the online Silent Auction. While this year’s event won’t be the usual night out in Bloor-Yorkville, it will still create a memorable evening for an incredibly important cause.
Of the new format, the CANFAR team says:
“Given the current state of affairs and the restrictions, we are all respecting as a result of the second wave of COVID-19, we know it’s impossible to gather as large groups for the event, as we usually do. In the spirit of keeping the BSE tradition alive, and to celebrate major milestones, including the approval of self-testing kits in Canada, slated to be announced this month, we have come up with a different formula for this November 25th, which will focus on a pre-recorded broadcast, presented by none other than our Honourary Chair Salah Bachir, with a few surprises for you. Hence why we invite you to “join” the Magic of Bloor Street Entertains… at home! for this year’s edition.”
If you would like more information on how to purchase tickets, register for the virtual broadcast, donate to CANFAR, or participate in the Silent Auction we encourage you to visit the official Bloor Street Entertains event website.
