The Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research will unite business and philanthropic leaders for a luncheon in support of ending HIV in Canada at its annual fundraiser, Can You Do Lunch?
Wednesday, September 9th, 2020
Can you do lunch? That really is the question, isn’t it? Our hope is that yes, we can ‘do lunch’ very soon. On April 28th, we would have gathered for our 8th annual luncheon in support of ending Canada’s HIV epidemic. Unfortunately, we had to postpone this signature event to protect the safety of our CANFAR family of donors and supporters during these extraordinary times.
We are inspired by recent news, these past weeks, that the province of Ontario is moving to re-opening the economy in a phased and controlled manner. With some light at the end of the tunnel, we are optimistic that we will be able to host Can You Do Lunch? Next month. Please save the date for Wednesday, September 9, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. . We are working with our sponsors, partners and Table purchasers to make this date happen, and every existing table and ticket purchased will be honoured for the new date.
In the spirit of the Food for Though Home dinners back in the 90s, we will offer this new option for CYDL?; evoking the feeling that we are a family coming together for lunch at home.
Broadcast
– At 1:00pm, the guests will be invited into the family or TV rooms to watch the virtual broadcast on the television. Broadcast channel details will be provided by ESP.INC
The luncheon may not look exactly like our past editions, but rest assured it will be an innovative experience. As an organization dedicated to supporting ground-breaking HIV research, innovation is in our DNA. We promise an event that will be as innovative as our mandate; there will be lunch, there will be community building and most importantly there will be a strong impact on our CANFAR programming.
Not only are HIV rates anticipated to rise as a result of the pandemic, but its impact on the financial future of charities like CANFAR is unknown. We appreciate COVID-19 is a top priority for giving, but we cannot fall further behind in the fight to end Canada’s HIV epidemic. Please help us to rebound stronger, and continue our work to increase prevention, treatment, testing efforts and end HIV stigma.
There is a lot of uncertainty in the world right now during these unprecedented times but as always, CANFAR is touched by the unwavering commitment and generosity of our family of donors and supporters.
