Bloor-Yorkville Icefest: A Trip Around the Word

As we fast approach this season’s Bloor-Yorkville Icefest: A Trip Around the World (taking place March 12th – 14th), we’d like to share a few exciting additional initiatives. From our charity partnership with Second Harvest, to an exciting Prime Video exhibit, and an Indie88 Radio Giveaway, there is plenty to get excited about.

Bloor-Yorkville Icefest x Second Harvest

Second Harvest

At the heart of our annual events is always a charity component. This season, as we approach the 16th annual Bloor-Yorkville Icefest, we’re pleased to announce our partnership with Second Harvest Food Rescue. This charity is Canada’s largest food rescue, with a dual mission of environmental protection and hunger relief. For over 35 years, Second Harvest has rescued over 117 million pounds of healthy food, keeping it out of landfills and preventing 192 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions from entering our atmosphere.

During this difficult time, we felt it was important to partner with a charity that could give back to Canadians in need. We’re pleased that all proceeds from this year’s Bloor-Yorkville Icefest will be supporting Second Harvest. Distributing through school programs, seniors’ centres, shelters, food banks, and more, Second Harvest is able to reach every province and territory. Having rescued more than 22.3 million pounds of food in the past year, Second Harvest was able to redistribute enough food to provide over 62,000 meals a day in Canada.

We encourage you to learn more about this incredible charity organization and if you are able, please visit our Official Donation Site.

Coming 2 America Arrives in Bloor-Yorkville

Eddie Murphy in Coming 2 America

An exciting addition to this year’s Bloor-Yorkville Icefest programming comes from Prime Video. Located at The Lane at Yorkville Village, you can discover this installation: Prime Video presents the Amazon Original Movie, Coming 2 America. The display will pay homage to the new movie, which makes its debut on March 5th.

Coming 2 America is set in the lush and royal country of Zamunda, where newly crowned King Akeem and his trusted confidante Semmi embark on an all-new hilarious adventure.

Stop by Yorkville Village to view the larger-than-life ice bust of King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and the royal gallery including trusted confidante Semmi.
