Bloor-Yorkville Holiday Magic 2019
Each year, we celebrate the holiday season with a truly magical evening (aptly referred to as Holiday Magic). It may seem hard to believe, but in just over a month, we’ll be lighting up the Village of Yorkville Park and surrounding Bloor Street area with a beautiful display of enchanting lights to take us through the holidays.
Musical Performance by Ruth B.
To kick off the season, we invite everyone to join us at the Big Rock, in the Village of Yorkville Park, for the official “flick the switch” lighting countdown and free full-length concert. This year, we are incredibly excited to welcome Canadian singer-songwriter Ruth B. to our stage! In 2017, Ruth was awarded the Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year after emerging onto the music scene with her hit single “Lost Boy,” which has garnered over 450 million streams online. “Lost Boy” has been certified 3x Platinum in the US, 4x Platinum in
Canada, and 2x Platinum in Sweden.

Ruth will be playing a full line up of her singles including “Superficial Love” and “Mixed Signals,” as well as new material including “Slow Fade,” in support of her new EP “Maybe I Will Find You Again.” She has yet to perform her new material in Toronto, making this a truly unique opportunity to celebrate the Canadian artist in a festive and unique environment. Accompanying the talented musician on stage will be a full band.
Nefe To Perform as Opening Act
Opening for Ruth B. is fellow Canadian musician Nefe, who has been aligned with the likes of Tracey Chapman due to her strong and soulful voice. Nefe is an exciting Canadian talent and we’re looking forward to her opening the show.
Tree Lighting Ceremony

While we’re partial to the unique lighting arrangements within the Village of Yorkville park, you don’t have to take our word for it. Last year, our Holiday Magic lights were listed as one of BlogTO’s top 5 displays to visit. Our enchanting “tunnel” is a beautiful space to stop, take photos, and get in the festive spirit. A walk through the park takes you through a variety of different displays to explore, from snowflakes to the “light fountain,” making for a magical night out.
New this year, we will have a full display of lights on 138 trees all along Bloor Street further adding to the vibrancy and excitement of the neighbourhood.
Holiday Magic Event Vendors
No holiday party is complete without refreshments, which is why we’re happy to have Whole Foods and ZAZA Espresso on-site. Whole Foods will be providing small baked goods, while ZAZA will be providing hot coffee. Each vendor will be offering their refreshments with a suggested donation of $2.00.
The ROM will also have a tent on-site, so be sure to stop by and see what exciting offerings they have on hand. In the spirit of giving, we’ll be hosting two holiday contests, so be sure to keep an eye on our social media. We’ll be announcing our prize packages and how to enter.
Holiday Magic is a charity event with all proceeds benefiting CANFAR (The Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research).
