Toronto Performance by Shawn Hook

Shawn Hook

This year, we’re excited to welcome back two-time JUNO Fan Choice Nominee Shawn Hook! Having performed for us in 2018, we can promise Hook brings incredible energy and excitement to the Holiday Magic stage. Hook is known for his multi-platinum singles, “Sound of Your Heart,” and “Reminding Me,” featuring Vanessa Hudgens, and recently received the Allan Slaight Music Impact Honour at Canada’s Walk of Fame. He recently released two new singles “Miss Me” and “Magic,” which were included on his brand new album “Rebuild,” which also included the new single “Dear Mr. Brown.” We can’t wait to welcome Shawn to the stage and see how he lights up the event this year!

STORRY and Shawn Hook Perform in Bloor-Yorkville

STORRY

Toronto’s STORRY to Open the Show

Opening for Shawn Hook and helping us kick off the night is The Voice UK 2024 finalist, Toronto-born R&B/Soul singer-songwriter STORRY. Also a two-time JUNO nominee, STORRY was previously nominated in 2020 for both Reggae Recording of the Year and for the Adult Contemporary Album of the year.

Official Lighting Ceremony with TV Personality Rick Campanelli

Our host for this year is TV Personality, Rick Campanelli, who will be helping us countdown and launch our annual “Flick the Switch” lighting ceremony, which sees the Village of Yorkville Park transform for the holidays.

Our enchanting light “tunnel” is a beautiful space to stop, take photos, and get in the festive spirit. A walk through the park takes you through a variety of different displays to explore, from snowflakes to the “light fountain,” making for a magical night out.

Additionally, we’ll have 138 lit trees along Bloor Street, transforming the entire street into a magical display, along with our Urban Campfire Benches, which will be lit up in festive red and green. The lighting will remain until the end of December, brightening the area throughout the winter.

Our Charitable Partner: Second Harvest

Holiday Magic is proudly in support of Second Harvest, Canada’s largest food rescue organization and a global thought leader on food waste and perishable food redistribution. It rescues unsold surplus food from thousands of food businesses from across the supply chain to redistribute it to non-profits in every province and territory. This prevents harmful greenhouse gases from entering the atmosphere while improving access to nutrition for millions of Canadians experiencing food insecurity.

This past year, Second Harvest rescued and redistributed 95.3 million pounds of surplus food, worth $400 million. In the process, it helped avert 309 million pounds of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.

Guests at Holiday Magic can donate to Second Harvest by visiting the Second Harvest team on-site at their tent. There will be a “tap to donate” machine set up at their tent, for ease of donation. We will also have on-site vendors offering popcorn and candy floss, with a suggestion of a donation to Second Harvest. These vendors booths will also have tap-to-donate machines making it easy to support! If you’re unable to attend Holiday Magic, but would like to learn more about Second Harvest or donate, please visit their donation page online here.
