Summer Music in the Park Continues until September 8th

While the summer heat soars, residents and visitors alike, have been coming to the Village of Yorkville Park weekly, to enjoy live musical performances from a dynamic lineup of artists during Bloor-Yorkville’s Summer Music in the Park series.

Grab an iced latte, find a shady spot and enjoy the summer heat, while listening to music ranging from the smooth sounds of strings with duo Citizen Jane, to powerhouse vocals by Emily Chambers, to the Folk Rock/Rhythm & Blues combination from Matt Zaddy Duo.

Start your long weekend, in the Park, with the powerful and sultry vocals of Emily Chambers Trio. Em Chambers is a Canadian singer/songwriter born in Hamilton, Ontario, who presently lives and performs in Toronto.  Em’s passion for music is influenced by Adele, Elton John, Eva Cassidy,  Nora Jones, Lady Gaga, and Amy Winehouse. In 2014, she graduated from the University of Western Ontario, with an Honours Degree from the Faculty of Music.  This classical training created a foundation which allows her vocals to resonate in many different genres. Check her out here!

Citizen Jane is a Toronto-based folk-pop duo who have been known to “combine powerful vocal harmonies with innovative string textures to create an emotionally charged soundscape.” The duo consists of married couple Reenie Perkovic (vocals, guitar, mandolin) and Lea Kirstein (viola, fiddle, cello, vocals), who met while studying classical music on the west coast of Canada. The ladies have since made a home in Toronto’s vibrant music scene. They are also passionate about building community & education, and frequently offers workshops at schools, camps, and festivals. Here is a sneak peek of their wonderful combination. They perform at Summer Music in the Park on August 10th.

On August 19th, check out a fantastic combination of Folk Rock and Rhythm & Blues with the stylings of Matt Zaddy Duo. Matt has recently released a single entitled Perfect Moments, which can be heard coast to coast on CBC and commercial stations. Matt will be touring nationally in support of the release of his full-length album this year. Check out his music here!
