The fantastic TD Toronto Jazz Festival might be over, but the music continues in Bloor-Yorkville, as this season of Summer Music in the Park music series continues. Back to add the ambiance of music to the area, the program takes place throughout the summer in the Village of Yorkville Park, located at Bellair St. and Cumberland St.

On July 15th David Leask, will have you moving and grooving to his traditional Celtic tunes. As a Summer Music in the Park regular, David brings along the influence of his Scottish heritage combined with his high-energy that never disappoints. A seasoned and commanding performer, having played over 2500 gigs in the last 20+ years, David’s music draws from roots rock, Celtic and country, topped up with a pop sensibility that brings to mind the talents of Van Morrison and David Gray.

On July 21st, drop by to listen to the jazz stylings of Elle Fitzgerald as Aimee Butcher performs with her Trio. This up-and-coming jazz vocalist is a favourite in the Toronto Jazz circuit. In May of 2015, Aimée released her debut album, “The World Is Alright”, at the prestigious Jazz Bistro to a sold-out audience. Hailed as an innovative composer, her album has been well-received globally and has earned radio airplay on established radio stations such as CBC Radio (Toronto and Montreal) and JAZZ.FM91.

On July 22nd, stroll over to the Park to enjoy the energetic Latin tones with Farrucas Duo. This husband and wife duo experiments with the diversity of Latin sounds and instruments through their music. Their artistic taste is a fusion between Mediterranean and Ecuadorian traditions, with influences from Arab, Cumbia, Rumba Flamenco, Salsa and Rock. For over 10 years, this duo has performed in venues across the GTA, with over 300 shows per year.

The Summer Music in the Park concert series takes place Fridays 11:30 am – 2:30 pm and Saturdays, Sundays and Statutory Holidays between 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm, from June 9 – September 9 (weather permitting). Click here for full listings of performances.
