Come February, some people might be ready to hibernate, but not in Bloor-Yorkville! Toronto Fashion Week® x RE\SET™ returns to the neighbourhood for another season and we’re proud to return as the Official Community Partner. Toronto Fashion Week puts a unique spin on the traditional fashion week format, creating relationships between designers, local restaurants, and iconic neighborhood venues. Aside from the runway shows, additional events include Fashion Talks, Style Plate, and other soon-to-be-released initiatives, each offering community members the opportunity to get involved in this exciting celebration of the arts.
Runway
Returning to the shows are Toronto favourites Hilary MacMillan, Narces, Christopher Bates and Mikhael Kale, as well as many others including Michi, Zoran Dobric, Lesley Hampton and more. The epicenter of the event takes place in the Fashion Environment (located at The Lane in Yorkville Village) which serves as a showroom for designers and a marketplace for the public to shop and explore the collections.
Venues
Bloor-Yorkville is home to a number of iconic venues, serving as unique backdrops throughout the event. The ROM, The Gardiner Museum, The Hazelton Hotel, Equinox, and even P2 of Yorkville Village Parking Garage are housing shows, promising a one-of-a-kind experience for guests.
Style Plate
Exploring the synergies between food and fashion, Style Plate looks at this relationship, as well as the merging of style and creativity within both the fashion and culinary industries. Featuring acclaimed chef Mark McEwan, Style Plate: Food – The New Fashion is taking place Weds. February. 6th at The Hazelton Hotel. Guests will be treated to spectacular cocktails and hors d’oeuvres by ONE Restaurant, while industry experts lead thoughtful discussions on these fascinating creative fields. Tickets are available online.
Additional Style Plate programming includes:
Dining Experience with Sofia x Christopher Bates: in partnership with American Express, 12 lucky American Express members will dine fashionably at Sofia Yorkville with notable designer Christopher Bates.
A Dining Experience with ONE x Mani Jassal: in partnership with Tourism Toronto, guests will be lunching in style at ONE restaurant with talented designer Mani Jassal, who will be sharing inspirations from her creative journey.
A Featured Cocktail by STK: start your fashionable nights with the Cucumber Stiletto, made with Belvedere, St-Germain elderflower liqueur, muddled cucumber & mint, all carefully curated by STK’s mixology team.
Fashion Talks™
The Fashion Talks segment remains a key component of Toronto Fashion Week programming. Each afternoon of the event, Donna Bishop hosts a live taping of the Fashion Talks™ podcast, produced in partnership with CAFA™. As the fashion columnist for CBC Radio’s Here and Now, Donna brings her vast knowledge of the industry with her as she chats with some of the most recognizable faces in fashion, film, beauty, and photography. These talented individuals share their stories in an intimate studio setting in Yorkville Village.
The Bloor-Yorkville BIA is proud to announce our involvement with the Thursday, February 7th Fashion Talks segment: Won’t You Be My Neighbour?: The power and influence of fashion on the economic, cultural and social landscapes in neighbourhoods around the world. Guests Jeanne Beker and Fotini Copeland will be panelists on this must-attend event.
