Top Designers Coming to Toronto Fashion Week
For its fifth consecutive season, Toronto Fashion Week is committed to delivering unique, engaging, and thoughtful programming that will take over the Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood. An exciting list of designers has been released, including cutting-edge newcomers and fashion titans such as Kim Newport, Trigère, Adrian Arnieri, Farley Chatto, Steven Lejambe, Anisha Kumar, 90’s Kids and Wuxly. Toronto Fashion Week also welcomes The Feral, RVNG,TOMÉ and Jared Lang Collection to show alongside longtime favourites, Christopher Bates, Hilary MacMillan, Lesley Hampton and Narces.
Kimberly Newport-Mimran, president and design director of the beloved Toronto-based Pink Tartan, will be debuting a new venture. Showing at the ROM on September 4th, her new line, aptly named Kim Newport, will pivot from her daywear aesthetic and feature one-of-a-kind cocktail dresses and evening gowns. With a devoted local and global following (including celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow and Kim Cattral), Kim Newport is sure to be a must-see show.
Toronto Fashion Week Events
Returning venues include the ROM, Yorkville Village, The Hazelton Hotel, and Fashion House, which is a brand-new venue, for the season, located in the heart of Bloor-Yorkville (78 Yorkville Ave). Fashion Talks will also return with host Donna Bishop curating intimate conversations with industry leaders including Franklin Benjamin Elman, Ron White and Kimberley Newport-Mimran.
The Toronto Fashion Week Marketplace will return to The Lane at Yorkville Village (136 Yorkville Ave). Each day, from 10 AM through 7 PM, guests will be provided with an engaging, shoppable marketplace experience featuring pieces from outstanding Canadian designers. This is a fantastic way to get engaged with the local fashion community, experience designs up close, and be a part of this exciting event.
To help foster the relationship between fashion designers and entrepreneurs, City MOGULS has partnered with Toronto Fashion Week to host an original speaker series aptly named Talk the Walk. The theme of this content series is Building Your Brand with Impact and Story Telling. Proceeds from this panel will support Dress for Success Toronto. The speaker lineup includes Niki Sky (Founder & CEO, Fancy Hair + Fancy Fringe), Aya McMillan (Senior Manager, Brand & Content at Elte MKT), and Paulo Leone (Brand Strategist), and will be moderated by Katie Zeppieri (Founder, Girl Talk Empowerment).
Launching September 4th, XPOSED will exhibit a photo series titled Icon in the Making, featuring Canadian-born YouTube sensation, actress, and model Gigi Gorgeous, shot by world-renowned Fashion photographer Chris Nicholls. With art treatments by Lorca Moore and Finley Moore, this XPOSED production will display a photo series inspired by her journey to becoming her true self. Under the creative direction of George Antonopoulos and Glenna Weddle, styling by Lucia Perna, hair by Kristjan, and makeup by Alexandre Deslauriers, Icon in the Making will be featured in XPOSED’s and FASHION’s October issue in celebration of gender freedom and expression.
Fashion Meets Philanthropy
Eva Hartling, host of The Brand is Female podcast, will be hosting a podcast with women in the retail industry. With a focus on innovation, Eva’s guests will shed light on how they’re changing the industy with their forward-thinking business models. Guests include BonLook Founder & CEO Sophie Boulanger, as well as other female founders who will discuss their brand experience, and how they manage in an ever-evolving industry. The Brand is Female will also record a live podcast to launch the #SENTALER4SickKids: Wear Your Support campaign featuring President and Creative Director of SENTALER, Bojana Sentaler, and other women in fashion to promote philanthropy at all financial levels through creative partnerships and initiatives
