August 2021 Performances:

David Leask, August 12
12:30 PM – 2:15 PM

Originally from Scotland, David Leask is a powerful singer-songwriter who bridges the influences of Scotland with the fresh possibilities of life in Canada. David’s music draws from Celtic roots, Americana and country, topped up with pop sensibility that brings to mind the talents of Van Morrison, John Mayer and Foy Vance. Six of David’s albums have been critically acclaimed. He will be performing live with outdoor seating at the ROM’s Performance Terrace.

Melissa Lauren Trio, August 26
12:30 PM – 1:00 PM

Toronto based singer and songwriter Melissa Lauren has smoothly made the transition from veteran swing “crooness” to songwriter.  Her unique style of music mixes old school jazz, Do-wap and blues, with Indie pop inflections and sounds; very much a product of her early musical training meeting her adult musical encounters. Her latest project, The Little Ones is an audience-crafted collection of songs. Curated after a series of house concerts and a Canadian Tour, the repertoire or “playlist” consists of the songs that resonated most with listeners. Melissa Lauren Trio will be streaming from Eataly at Manulife Centre.

September 2021 Performances:

Angela Turone, September 9
12:30 PM – 1:00 PM

Angela Turone is a vocalist and pianist who is quickly establishing herself on the Canadian jazz scene. She was featured on a 2013 recording from the U of T Jazz Orchestra, singing alongside Juno Award-winning Canadian saxophonist Mike Murley on his composition “Minas Mist”. Angela has performed at Toronto’s top jazz venues including the Jazz Bistro, the Rex Jazz and Blues Bar, and the Home Smith Bar at the Old Mill Toronto. She has also performed in the TD Toronto Jazz Festival, the Prince Edward Country Jazz Festival, and the Niagara region’s 2017 Twilight Jazz Series.
